Movies that Matter x Hague Hacks x Border Sessions Meetup

Bring the worlds of peace, justice and technology together

We invite you to the Movies that Matter x Hague Hacks x Border Sessions Meetup on Tuesday the 27th of March in Theater aan het Spui. The Movies that Matter x Hague Hacks Meetup, aims to bring the worlds of peace, justice and technology together. There are limited seats available and we are specifically inviting people with a technical background for this event. Participation is free but registration is required, please e-mail shalene.datta@thehaguepeace.org.

This event will be part of the Movies that Matter Film Festival, taking place from the 23rd-31st of March 2018. Every year a group of human rights defenders from all over the world joins the film festival, to represent the films about their human rights work and to meet and interact with the public.

This year, four of these human rights defenders: from Brazil, Turkey, Hong Kong and The Gambia, will pitch some of the challenges they face in their work to a select group of tech experts from The Hague. In a brief but intense brainstorm and making session, we want to help them find a tech-solution that they can implement when they are back home.

The event will consist of four pitches from the Human Rights Defenders, explaining their challenges. This will be followed by participants being split into four groups, in which they will have an open discussion to gather ideas about what innovation and technology can mean for each activists case.

Each Human Rights Defender will be representing a movie, which guests can view at their own convenience to gain a better understanding of the problem (timetable and movie information below). Please indicate which film you would like to see and at which day.
