Hacking Elderly Care

During the week of 2 to 7 October, the City of The Hague is organising a hackathon focused on elderly healthcare. The emphasis is on empowering the elderly to live within their own home environment by promoting self-reliance and providing access to home support. Current and yet to be developed IT solutions can boost the well-being of the elderly.

The elderly care sector in the Netherlands is expanding due to the ageing population. This will produce various challenges (and opportunities) in the near future, the main goal being to ensure accessible, affordable and respectable healthcare for all the elderly.

The emphasis here is on empowering the elderly to live in their own home environment by promoting self-reliance and providing access to home support. Current and future IT solutions can boost the well-being of the elderly. The City of The Hague is supporting the development of such solutions by organising the ‘Hacking Elderly Care’ hackathon.

Based on existing and new challenges in the elderly care sector, 3 interdisciplinary teams of 5 hackers will develop solutions during an intensive innovation week.

Submit a challenge

If you work in the healthcare sector (as a professional, end user, entrepreneur, etc) and are facing a challenge which could be addressed during the hackathon, please submit your challenge in the form.
